Teens Take Tocial Media Over TV
In an unprecedented display, a recent survey revealed that teens prefer social media-ing over TV-ing. Is this new? I don't know...let me check my Twitter or see if someone pinned this on Pinterest. No? Nothing? I guess this is news then.
So here is the dilly. The study, which polled 1,300 people across the UK and was conducted by a digital marketing agency, Click Consult, showed that65% of the 16-24 year-olds who were polled for the survey, listed talking to their friends via Facebook and Twitter, as their top leisure activity. Compare this to the 80s, where 89% of teens reported having their own phone line in the bedroom to talk about Scott Baio as their top activity (citation needed).
Youths have always been the quickest to adopt trends in technology. And it is up to the older crowds to adapt, and gear business trends to take advantage of us kids. With the growth of internet ready devices and TVs expected to explode in the next few years, look to see this trend expanded upon.
What used to be thought of as a waste of time, social media is proving to be a force that can unite different social entertainment medias. And now you know.
