HighBeam Research Published Monthly Social Media Index
HighBeam Research (www.highbeam.com) recently published an analysis of seven social media sites' total media attention in April 2012.
Twitter continues its reign on top with more than 54 percent of the total media attention. Even with news of its IPO, Facebook falls in second with almost 41 percent. LinkedIn followed in third with more than 2.5 percent. For the first time since releasing the index, both Pinterest and Foursquare beat out MySpace with 0.74 percent and 0.58 percent, respectively. MySpace received just under 0.5 percent and Google Plus just under 0.2 percent.

Xiaomeng Li earned her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, with Honors in Mass Communication and Fine Arts at Wilson College, Chambersburg, PA. She is now a Master of Arts candidate for New Arts Journalism program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Born in Wuhan, China, Li came to the United States in 2007.
