Top of the Twitter (Food) Chain : Chicago Edition

twitter-large-580x358

So this begins a new weekly series of posts of 10 to follow on Twitter because, obviously, #FF aren’t enough for us here at SocialTechPop. Welcome to a highly subjective, although no less worthy list of some of the most informative, entertaining, and educational Twitter accounts that you should be following. If you don’t have a Twitter, we have other problems than who to follow.

This week is our Chicago edition, heavily influenced by Jess Loren:

1. CUBS (@Cubs)
The official account for the Cubs keeps fans up to date on contests, player updates, and the lastest about the games. Even if you’re not a fan, then it might not be bad to follow just for fair warning on when to avoid the madness that is Wrigleyville on game days.

2. Eric Himel (@EricHimel)
Eric’s feed is filled with fashion tips and celebrity commentary in his trademark wit and no holds barred attitude. Both educational for all fashion forward individuals and hilarious.

3. Jake (@skaw)
He's the founder of Threadless, which is awesome in and of itself. With a myriad of offbeat, funny photos and tweets, he’s worth checking out for both entertainment and updates on Threadless.

4. Emerson Spartz (@EmersonSpartz)
Ever hear of MuggleNet? Are you a fan of Harry Potter? Even if not, Spartz’s upbeat feed is great to find the best articles on his entrepreneurial endeavors--which extend well beyond Harry Potter now--and get a view into a optimistic and ambitious life of this CEO.

5. John Tucker (@Tuck)
He’s the VP of member experience at Trunk Club, a hot, new startup in Chicago that offers personalized clothing services for men. He keeps his Twitter feed up to date with news of the company and always engaging with the Twittersphere.

6. Windy City LIVE (@WindyCityLIVE)
Keep up to date on what’ll be on Chicago’s newest daytime talk show. From sports to entertainment to fashion, Windy City Live is a great mix of everything to pique the interest of us Chicagoans or those who wish they were.

7. Jen Knoedl  (@Jentravelslife)
Executive Producer of Ka-no-dl and Online Video Personality at Jenchicago.com. Follow her for a steady does of travel tips and questions, as well as updates on some Chicago happenings.

8. Kris Petersen (@KrisPetersen)
Founder/CEO of DealsGoRound. His various interactions and commentary on business and Chicago is great to get a heads up on who to follow in addition to some pretty funny tweets.

9. Tim Parrish (@TimboParrish)
So here at the SocialTechPop offices, also known as the Kambio Group offices, it's basically a requirement that we are familiar in some regard with reality TV. I mean, come on, we work with Ed Swiderski--have you seen "Bachelor Pad" this season? Tim Parrish's account is entertaining, not to mention he’s a friend of Jess and Ed--our managing partners at Kambio--and he was on “Love in the Wild."

10. Jarrett W. Payton (@paytonsun)
Check in with Jarrett Payton for updates on The Jarrett Payton radio show and motivation tweets. Oh, and did we mention that he’s also Walter Payton’s son?”

While we're on the topics of notable Chicago twitter feeds (of which we are more than sure some are missing, use the comments to tell us your thoughts on what should be included!), we're going to throw in Jess (@ChiTownJess) and Ed's (@ESwiderski) too.

   #TeamEd !

We're also not commenting on the fact that Twitter Tuesdays would be a much better name. New strategy next week perhaps?
