Have you ever been out to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame? When traveling to California, any entertainment buffs will make sure they stop to see this historic area so they can check it off their bucket lists. Perhaps there are certain stars you want to see and take photos by—do you buy a star map or purchase an overpriced tour? Not anymore! Soon there will be an app that you can use to give yourself your own tour for just pennies.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and MediaMine have partnered to give you an interactive tour of the Walk of Fame, Hollywood’s storied sidewalks where 2,500 stars and “the stars” have aligned to bring fans and entertainment lovers together to revel in a multitude of history.

MediaMine, a digital media asset management company that consults with content and brand owners to realize the full potential of their assets, will curate the Chamber of Commerce’s collection, a treasure trove of historic Hollywood content, into a usable app for travelers that is part tour guide, part scavenger hunt, part game, and part local services provider. MediaMine will utilize its proprietary Digital Docent™ technology as the underlying platform for the Walk of Fame app.

Features

Features of the app, which is projected to be ready by next summer, include being able to build custom itineraries so you know where to go to find your favorite star. As you navigate your route, the app will inform you of other places of interest near you and allow you to see what’s around, including entertainment, dining, and shopping options.

Other features include the Walk of Fame’s Trivia Challenge and Scavenger Hunt, which will lead users to nearby locations and provide more information about their favorite celebrities, as well as give you discounts and exclusive offers from local merchants. The application also will feature for-purchase virtual items and hard goods, enabling people to share their adventures with friends via social media sites. App users also can request updates from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, such as when a new star is added.

Watch for this app to be released in 2013. Start planning your trips now!
