If the Occupy Wall Street crowds knew about this legislation, they would probably stop protesting the redistribution of wealth and start protesting Congress’s attempted censorship of freedom on the Internet. The Internet is a robust medium where people can express themselves, reinvent themselves, protest and argue opinions. This laws intent is to stop copyright infringement, but it is infringing on our rights as citizens. Read More »

It's a place for startups who may not even have a company name or business plan to set up shop, share ideas, receive business guidance and make deals," said Syncubator founder and CEO Mike Rhodes, a serial entrepreneur who launched both the investment fund and The SYNC (as the technology center is called) after successfully mentoring others seeking tech stardom. "Neither Chicago nor the Valley has had this kind of resource before." Read More »
There are currently more ways to experience architecture than ever before in human history. With the advent of the Age of Facebook (an era that started something like 16 months ago) it was only a matter of weeks before someone started to combine buildings, mobile phones, and social networking. The results are multitudinous, but two that are Character Approved are OpenBuildings and Architizer.
OpenBuildings is all about the buildings. Organized around its iPhone application, this website allows people to locate interesting buildings wherever they are, assuming that wherever they are has compatible phone service. Anyone can register and submit a building, and it's a snap to search for buildings by architect, location, or type. It's easy to find stuff, even if the location searches through the website are still a little unpolished.
Architizer is more of a straight-up social networking site for architects and their buildings. You can find projects, people, or firms, and it is smartly organized to cross-pollinate between all these categories of architectural production. What makes it truly extraordinary is that it puts great pictures front and center, so like Facebook, you can impress people with your choice of eyewear while also showing off your great building designs.
