Even though Justin Timberlake has a minority stake in Myspace, it's clear that the pioneering social media platform's best days are behind it: Hell, even Mr. Myspace himself, Tom Anderson, seems to enjoy updating his Google+ page more than visit his old stomping grounds. But many bands still base their web presence on their Myspace page because of its familiarity and former growth potential (the Brit band Arctic Monkeys, whom I'm immensely fond of, gained a ton of early fame through their Myspace page, although they would later say they had nothing to do with it. Baidu, China’s largest (and heavily censored) search engine, has reached an agreement with One-Stop China – who represents Sony, Universal Music, and Warner Music – to offer its users a new music service. The service will offer a legal method of distributing music for Baidu, who have had their struggles with piracy in the past. For the past six years, Baidu has been embroiled in legal battles over their linking to sites that host pirated music, and they believe this deal will mark an end to those accusations. Read More »
